9th Street BMX News

Huge thanks to Empire BMX for hosting a yard sale fundraiser for Joe Rich! Joe is healing up quickly and in good spirits as usual. The event was a lot of fun, games and good friends. Empire donated BBQ donations back to 9th Street BMX for tools and such. Thanks again to everyone. Cheers.

We had a great IMPD today thanks to our volunteers and APF! We planted 28 native plants, picked up litter, swept the entire park, maintained the jumps and created 3 new rollers into the Kid's Pump Track. Mayor Steve Adler, Parks and Recreation Department (PARD) Director Sara Hensley and Austin Parks Foundation (APF) CEO Colin Wallis showed up to support 9th Street BMX! We are very thankful for their support! It means so much to have city leaders take time to meet us and help out! Also thanks to all the volunteers and APF (Kathleen Mannello, John Rooney, Barry Rivera, Colin Wallis). Big thanks to Aron Hoag, Marty Cristman and Kenny Horton for their hard work today and with the 9th Street BMX Non Profit Group. APF CEO Colin Wallis, Marty Cristman, Aron Hoag and APF's Rachel V-C. Moon, Marty Cristman and Mayor Adler. IMPD volunteers: Kenny Horton, Desmond Startin, Derrick Heyn, and Aron Hoag.  Marty Cristman: Master Digger doing it for the kids!

Fall IMPD was a great success. We spread 2 dump trucks/36 yards of mulch to help the trees. Planted over 35 native plants to beautify the park and attract pollinators. We had a good rain after planting the plants so hopefully they will grow healthy and propagate. Big thanks to all of the volunteers who helped and to Kathleen, Barry and John at Austin Parks Foundation for making this happen! Thanks to Turner Collie at Violet Crown Landscapes and Leaf Landscape Supply for their support.

Good turn out for the 18th Annual 9th Street BMX Halloween Jam. The trails were soft and slow due to all the recent rain. People pulled together as always to get the jumps running and have a fun day. We had over 100 hot dogs and TRAIL RELISH! We raised over $500 which directly go the trails for tools, community outreach, etc. Pump Track Kids Race  Results : 7 and under #1 Carew A. #2 Gavin G, #3 Leo L 8 and up #1 Nathan R, #2 Justin P, #3 Nik B Link to Ashu's kids race photos:  https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.1968150916604376&type=1&l=ee61e9b939 Thanks to Tom and Tina of EmpireBMX.com for the help, support, prizes and gift bags!
